life. eternity. perspective.

Life.  Eternity.  Perspective

"I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."  John 10:10

I sat across a kitchen table from a young millennial - early 20's - in his typically sparse college style apartment.  He had visited our church the previous Sunday at the invitation of his friend.
We chatted about various things until these words came tumbling out of his mouth.  "I get up every morning and go to work.  I come home at 5:00, find some supper, watch TV or play video games until I go to bed.  Then I get up the next morning and do it all over again.  Day after day after day."
I looked across the table at this young man, staring at me with all the hopelessness and emptiness of the life he saw in his future, and said, "Leyton, DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE LIKE THIS!  In fact, don't waste even one more day in this empty cycle.  God has so much more in His loving plan for your life!"
I have listened to dozens of people, some of them believers, who have communicated this same despair - a life filled with nothing more than endless routine, meaningless activity, hopeless cycles of life that have no real direction or purpose.  And I am confident that this is not God's plan!  Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."  John 10:10
The problem, it seems, is that we end up getting trapped into living for the wrong things.  The thief is good at confusing these priorities for us - always robbing of the joy that comes with living life on purpose.
I am committed to seeking God's best for my life and asking Him to help me live with an eternal perspective.  I have asked God to help me invest my life in the two things that matter most - my family and His family.  I want my life to count - to make a difference - both now and for eternity!  And I am burdened to walk alongside of others who are pursuing this same purpose.
If I can help walk alongside you - or you can help me, I would love to connect with you.  Please leave me a note here or in the comments section below.
