The Darlong people have a Bible! 12 hours on a rickety bus over the worst roads imaginable, up into the mountains and tribes of Tripura state; 4 hour service; church people lining the street in their best duds when we arrived; more than 1000 people crammed into the building of the Darchawi Baptist Church - adults and kids hanging off the balcony and pressing through open windows in order to make room; speeches made: songs sung; gifts given: tears shed; celebration feast shared. As we loaded the bus in the dark for the trip back to Pailapool, the Darlong people were beginning a marathon public reading of their Scriptures - they were starting in Genesis and will not stop until they read through Revelation. I can't explain to you how privileged and humbling and challenging it is to be part of something like this. It felt like a whole lifetime of unique and poignant experiences all rolled up into one overwhelming day. Have you opened your Bible today? There are 4500 people groups still waiting for this privilege.
